Welcome to Socials 9
From the 18th century onward, technological and ideological revolutions began to alter the long standing authoritarian society that ruled the land for thousands of years. Many people around the globe began to recognize their right to freedom and democracy. However, not all citizens were viewed as equals and oppression of various ethnic groups continued to shape the future for millions of people. As European countries continued their quest to colonize North America, immigrants from around the world began to recognize the opportunity that the New World could offer them. Throughout SS9 you will be identifying the new ideas influencing society, the disparity in power between individuals and groups and how the collective identity of a region can change over time.
We will be starting with reviewing the course outline, co-creating classroom expectations and playing a fun game of Kahoot! to have a preview of some of the topics we'll be learning more about in this course.
Another way we will be introduced to the topics of the course is by playing a game of Swat!
To get everyone organize, we are doing to do a walk through my website, MyEd, your student email access and Google Classroom.
