Metis in Canada
Day 1:
1. Start with the unit outline again and review the SOI.
2. Review back to last year when they should have learned about why Europeans were first coming to Canada - Fur Trade. What would happen when typically European men were exploring Canada and coming into contact with First Nations? -> Babies - Metis group emerges.
3. Students will first learn about the Red River Resistance. Explain that this is happening right after Confederation, a topic they will learn about next but just to keep in mind that several events can happen simultaneously. Louis Riel Part 1 notes, from PPT
Day 2:
1. Review from the RRR from last day.
2. Explain that there is a Part Two to Louis Riel, and have students complete notes on Louis Riel Part Two from Canada Revisited (white cover) which is a new to them textbook that will remain in the classroom.

1. Students will complete an Indian Act PPT and Notes in the classroom before moving to a computer (location TBD) to complete a WebQuest(on the last page of the ppt notes)
2. Return back to the unit outline to add more details and examples to the FCD questions.
