Lesson One: Exploring Careers
- How many of you know what career(s) you are interested? Who has no clue?
- Complete the 16 Personalities Test. When reading your results, focus on the suggested careers.
- Complete the Young Canadian Webquest.
- Complete the Careers Research Assignment.
Lesson Two: Failure, Setbacks, Success and Mastery
- Watch the movie Forrest Gump and complete the worksheet Failures, Set Backs, Success and Mastery.
- What can we learn from this movie?
Lesson Three: Resumes
- Ask students prior to the lesson to bring in their resumes.
- Follow the GSlides about resumes.
- Review the components of a resume.
- Review some Employability skills that recruiters are looking for.
- Go to the Job Bank website and see what they suggest to include/not include.
- Have students complete the resume worksheet.
- Next students will create a cover letter for a job that they would like to have when they are in the early 20's.
Lesson Four: Interviews
- Discuss how you can make yourself more successful for an interview? Whats not suggested to do?
- Have a couple volunteers come up to be interview by surprise guest.
- Practice a few times with different peers.
- Complete the Interview Webquest.
- Taking what you've learned about what to do and what not two do during interviews complete this project.
Lesson Five: Internships
- Answer the worksheet while watching the movie, The Intern
- What can we learn from this movie?
Lesson Six: Student Loans (intro, more to come in our Finances Unit)
- Any idea what the average Canadian holds in student loans?
- How many students leave post secondary with some form of student loan?
- Students will complete a webquest to learn more about student loans.
